The chat last week with some of the nursery children is the different changes in the weather and the fact we have now moved into autumn. While out on a woodland walk the children noticed the leaves were changing colour and falling off the trees. Robbie said ‘look the leaf is orange and this one has brown and orange’. This led us onto the chat about what would happen if we mixed different colours together and what the outcome might be. Once we got back we got out some powder paints and started some explorative play. Lots of measuring, mixing, pouring and estimating went on. Some children created their own colours and others managed to follow visual aids perfectly following all the instructions on them. Skilfully managing to measure the different amounts of powder paint required and adding the correct volume of water to create the colour they desired. High levels of engagement was evident and the paint colours created were fabulous and all related to autumn. Well done, you all did an amazing job.
